Taking our Environment Unit Outside

We took our Environment unit outside to the Surrey Nature Centre. We learned about the benefits of looking up, down, and all around. Here are some photos of a few of the activities we participated in.

What kind of picture can you make in your frame from non-living things in our environment?

What kinds of things can you see in your surroundings?

What kind of things can you see under a microscope?

Practicing shadow creatures:

Thanks again to all our wonderful parent volunteer supervisor and drivers. Without you, this field trip would've never happened!

Arrrr Matey!

This week we have been learning about different types of maps and their importance for different things. Today we finished our treasure maps which (sporadically) inspired our afternoon to be Pirate-themed. Yes, we were silly and had fun!

Here 'arrrr' our photos:

Treasure maps lead to TREASURE!

Pirates say "Arrr..!"

And last, but never least, our Pirate class photo!

Living in the Pioneer Days!

Last week we extended our knowledge of what a community is by dipping into a mini unit of the Pioneer Days!

We went on a fantastic field trip to Stewart Farms in South Surrey, where we got to experience life in the "Olden Days" hands-on.

Here are some photos from our day:
